Rice University Wins 2022 Pierre de Chaignon la Rose Design Award

After a number of delays, the American Heraldry Society is pleased to announce the winner of its 2022 Heraldic Design Award: Rice University! Along with several other shields, Rice’s coat of arms was nominated by members of the Society. The Board of Governors then narrowed the nominations down to three finalists and allowed the members to vote.
Rice University’s coat of arms is a simple, bold, distinctive design created by Pierre de Chaignon la Rose—an eminent heraldist of the 20th century. In addition to being a wonderful design, it is actually used extensively by Rice as a symbol of the university’s identity on websites, buildings, publications, and more.
Congratulations to Rice University!
